Funny Bear Apps (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ByteBeats mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App.

By using ByteBeats, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. What the App Does

ByteBeats is a music player for self-hosted and local libraries. It helps you play audio from folders on your device, SMB network shares, Google Drive, Jellyfin servers you configure, and optional internet radio. Your library content and listening stay under your control; we do not operate a commercial streaming catalog or sell your music.

2. Information on Your Device

To provide features, the App may store data locally on your device, for example:

• Media source configuration, track metadata, playlists, and interface preferences
• Cached or downloaded audio and artwork used for browsing and playback
• Scan resume checkpoints for long library scans
• Credentials or tokens for optional services, kept in secure storage where the platform supports it (for example SMB passwords and Jellyfin access tokens). These secrets are not stored in the main library JSON file

We do not require you to create an account with Funny Bear Apps to use core playback features.

3. Permissions and System Access

Depending on your device and which features you use, the App may request access explained in the system permission prompts, such as:

• Music / media library — to list and play music you authorize
• Files or folders — to read audio you select
• Local network / internet — to reach SMB shares, Jellyfin servers, Google Drive, and internet radio
• Photos (optional) — if you choose images from your library for custom artwork
• Background audio / notifications — for lock-screen and system media controls during playback
• Microphone-related audio — where required by the system for standard media playback behavior; we do not record your voice for ByteBeats features

You can revoke permissions in your device settings; some features may stop working if access is denied.

4. Third-Party Services

If you connect optional services, those providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies. Network and cloud features only run when you use them. Examples include:

• Google — Google Sign-In and Google Drive APIs when you add a Drive source
• Jellyfin — your own (or hosted) Jellyfin server when you add a Jellyfin source; authentication uses your username and password to obtain an access token for scanning and streaming
• SMB hosts — network file servers you configure
• Internet radio — stations you choose to play

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We may use platform or third-party tools for anonymous crash reporting or usage analytics to improve stability and features. Such data is generally aggregated and not used to identify you personally. If we add analytics, we will describe them in app store listings and update this policy as needed.

6. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate to the App, including secure storage for sensitive credentials where available. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Use trusted networks when connecting to remote libraries.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last Updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
