What's Happening app

The What's Happening app puts your city's events in your pocket. Pick a city, then browse what's on as a list or a calendar, save the events you like, and get a reminder before they start. It's built with Flutter for iPhone and Android.

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Until then, every event is on whatshappeninginmycity.com.

Browse

Choose from every city on the website, and the app remembers your pick
List view grouped by day, with long-running exhibits at the end
Month calendar with the number of events on each day; tap a day to see them
Search, plus the website's Free, Kids & family, and Evenings filters, in both views
Times always show in the city's own time zone

Event details

Tap an event for the details, a link to the event's page, and directions
Add to calendar opens your phone's calendar with the event already filled in

Saved events and reminders

Tap the heart to save an event; the Saved screen works offline
Set a reminder and your phone notifies you before the event starts, even when the app is closed
If an event's time changes, its reminder moves with it
The app asks for notification permission only the first time you set a reminder
Saved events clear themselves a day after they end

Always up to date

Events update twice a day along with the website
The last download stays on your phone, so the app opens offline

Privacy

The app has no accounts and no tracking. Saved events and reminders stay on your phone, and your email address is sent only if you use Subscribe.

On the web

The website has the same events, plus calendar feeds, city requests, and the weekly newsletter.
